A Magical, Out of this World...Day at Home

Well, after 2 weeks off for Christmas Break, we are back at school a week & a half and they have a few more days off.  That's okay though.  I love having Hunter home and on Monday we had NOTHING going on.  No where to go or anything, so we had some fun at home.

First, Hunter and his trusty assistant Hayden put on an amazing magic show.  I'm still trying to figure out their tricks!!!

And Henri had to get in on the action too!

Here they all three are trying to plan out the next trick.

Then once Henri headed to bed, the boys and I made planets and rockets.  It was alot of fun.  The planets were super easy.  You just take a coffee filter color it with markers and the spray it with a water bottle and all the colors bleed together.  They turned out pretty cool and the boys loved watching the colors spread.

I realize that most don't look like planets, but they started just coloring any colors they wanted.  I wasn't to technical with them.  I made a pretty cool Jupiter though (I don't think it is in any of the pictures...sorry, I know everyone is dying to see it).

Next, onto the rockets.  Oh, I'm not sure where Hayden's "hat" came from.  I guess some of our cutting produced it and he thought it made a pretty cool hat.

Here is Hunter flying through space.  Oh and you can see the top of my Jupiter at the bottom of the picture.  It's much cooler if you saw the whole thing.  Hunters earth is right above it.  Again not totally accurate, but they had fun.

I made them a rocket lunch too.  (I'm having fun making these fun lunches, but I'm pretty sure I'm starting something bad, my kids are going to start expecting them often...)

Here are the boys rockets.  They were fun and easy.  I just used TP rolls and then we made the fire from the coffee filters again.  The coolest part was the flame goes in and out so when you land it can go in and then BLAST OFF again...

It was a fun day.  I don't feel we get days like that often enough when we just spend most of the day playing.  I wish we did...I guess I just need to appreciate them when they come!

Very cool - you should start a school lunch program - the kids would probably eat much better!!
