Christmas...a day at a time: Day 1

So as I say every year, I want the boys (especially Hunter) to continue to understand the TRUE meaning of Christmas. This year in order to do this I am doing our advent calander like I did last year, where I came up with a different Christmas activity to do each day. Some days it was a craft, or baking, an activity, like looking at christmas lights or sleeping under the tree, etc...but this year I added a bit of a twist to focus more on Christ. I found a bible study called, Rediscovering the Christmas Season and they have a 25 day plan that give a reading to study and gives applicaitons and activities. Some I had to adjust for the kids, but we will see how it goes. I'm hoping it helps them to focus on Christ this season and understand why we do some of the fun things at Christmas and how they tie in to Christ coming to earth as part of Gods plan to save us!!! So here is what we did on day one...

We read Luke 2 v. 21-40. This talked about Simeon and Anna at the Temple when Jesus was brought there to present him to the Lord and how they had been waiting to see God's Salvation, as Simeon was told that he would not die until he saw Him. We then discussed how they waited for Christ to come the first time and how we are now waiting for him to return. We also talked about how we need to be prepared for His return and then we planned Jesus' Birthday Party which we will have on Christmas eve. If you know anything about Hunter, he loved this. He loves to plan things. We decided to go with a Star theme for his party. Now onto day 2.
